Edmundo Gonzalez (Ed) was a certified public accountant in Mexico for 19 years. At the same time he was a part time professor of cost accounting, finance, and administration in the school in which he obtained his bachelors degree, the School of Business and Accounting of the National Polytechnic Institute. He was later the Chancellor of the same school. His main achievement in the School was changing the students records from manual "Kardex" to a computerized data base. Also, he directed and inaugurated a deconcentrated complex of buildings for 3,000 students in the south part of Mexico City. Academically he consolidated a reticular system with lateral "exits" for students that could not continue their college preparation.
Ed has ample experience as an external auditor and business consultant of many companies in the manufacturing industry like steel, auto-parts, timber mills, plywood, cellulose, cement, galvano-magnetic finishes, bottling, and cold cuts. He had the same experience in department stores, maritime transport, auto dealers, hotels, restaurants, banks and finance companies, stock brokers and a law firm. In more than 30% of the jobs Edmundo had the opportunity to work with internal executives preparing cost studies for the decision making process, implementing strategic financial planning structures, and installing computerized accounting systems, but his major achievement was the valuation of a group of cold cuts packing companies for sale to other investors in a hostile intent of take over by the federal government.
Later he was the accounting director of a large rural credit bank with more than 550 branches in Mexico. He could have clean reports from the external auditors and establish the basis to change from a centralized big computerized system to a decentralized system with personal computers.
In the United States he was co-manager and accountant for an apartment complex with 152 units, general accountant of a manufacturer of medical equipment inside a "Fortune 500" conglomerate (Thermo Electron) and lately the finance director of a manufacturer of construction industry components. In the manufacturer of medical equipment company, he participated in each monthly books closing, accounts reconciliation and preparing financial information for the corporate office and for the Security and Exchange Commission purposes. Also he had an important role in the coordination of the annual external audit, and the annual preparation of budgets and governmental reports and tax returns. In the construction components manufacturer Ed had a hands-on intervention in the whole accounting and financial process including monthly statements, annual reports and tax returns, as well of the implementation of the strategic financial planning structure. In this last journey he had the opportunity to work very closely with his wife Catherine in a solid team in a consolidated effort.
Catherine Oakes Gonzalez (Cathy) has been recognized for extraordinary customer service. Her ability to form long lasting, solid relationship with clients has been a true asset to the success of past business. Her organization and efficient methods have led to happy, prosperous customers. Cathy has never sacrificed precision and efficiency knowing both are important for positive results. During the last seven years Cathy has developed superior computer and management skills including knowledge of multiuser accounting software.
Now, Ed and Cathy are starting a professional firm to bring their skills and abilities to the service of the businesses and other organizations of the Coachella Valley and the Inland Empire.
